Today is the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate women worldwide and to remind ourselves of the work yet to be done to fight gender inequality. But it is sad that we need a special day for this. With two young nieces growing up, my hope is that by the time they become adults, they will know no hint of inequality or discrimination.
I know exactly what you mean as my niece is now in the business world and finding it difficult. I guess we still need the day.
I heard on the today show yesterday that women will not earn equal pay with men until 2056!! Really?!!! How do they figure that?
And thanks for remembering us and giving a shout out!
*thumbs up*
I share your sentiment on your last statement!
I saw the women of Egypt in the Tahrir Square wanting their rights, and their sons and husbands and brothers and fathers were asking them to go back home and stay there!! How much longer, eh?
Yes – timely reminder for everyone.
